I am aware that Vanguard requires uniformity by account type in terms of beneficiary designation.

^^^ This hasn't been my experience at Vanguard. My Roth IRA has different beneficiaries than my Rollover IRA.

I've noticed in the past, if I make a change, the website offers to duplicate the beneficiaries to the "other" IRA, but I decline and enter them manually.
