It just feels like we're on the precipice of a correction - I'd hate to buy in when S&P is so dang high - especially in a lump sum. This was my reasoning for a more gradual reallocation strategy.Once you have decided on an overall plan for your portfolio, make the changes all at once, not in stages.
I see no benefits to stringing out the process.
I do not plan on working with the federal government until retirement age. Ideally, I'm looking at a 5-6 year horizon for full-time employment. I may be able to work in a part-time or per diem capacity from that point forward with a probable income range of $70 - 100k.If you plan to stay with the federal government until retirement and so receive a federal pension in addition to Social Security benefits, then I suggest Roth contributions.
