Sounds like he is a market timer, who moves from fund to fund as conditions change. Over-weighting less successful companies (which is what an equal weight does) until conditions change, then switch investments again after conditions change, does not seem to be a long-term, BH-style investing strategy. Also, he believes the Mag7 are over priced in VTI and so he’s recommending RSP Invesco S&P 500 Equal Weight ETF for new money instead to give me more access to the smaller companies in the index despite it’s higher ER of 0.2%. What say ye? Thanks!
I vote for VTI because I don't believe that your friend knows more than the sum total knowledge of all investors (which is the Total Market).
