You came to the right place for help. Lots of brilliant minds on this forum.

Have you considered diversifying your portfolio and investing in strategies that take both market risk and taxes out of the equation?
Also, if you are considering active management, need to take fees into consideration.

Hello everyone! I am new to the Bogleheads and honestly new to active investing. My husband and I have been passively investing in our retirement 401ks respectively but not engaging like we should have and so here we are. After looking at the various investment strategies, it seems Bogleheads is the most reasonable. While researching, it feels that I have been choosing to be financially illiterate and feel really behind.

We recently had to liquidate a $905,433.84 fund, which means we have $905,433.84 in cash and need to figure out what to do with it and need some advice.

Here’s our breakdown.
Husband and I both early 40s. Wanting to retire in 25 years or so.
No debt, own home, and cars, no foreseeable large purchases. Our current expenses are approx $50k for everything.
Our income is approx $320K.
Our investments:
Husband employee stock plan $544,386.6
His 401K $194,016.13
Myself 401k $169,532.41
SCHWAB VALUE ADVANTAGE MONEY INVESTOR SHARES SWVXX $387,042.08
Backdoor Roth IRA $20,818.05
And cash on hand $905,433.84

From what I have gathered from lurking on the forums and trying out various investment programs the plan I have so far for the cash on hand is:
70% in Total Market index fund like Fidelity FSKAX
20% in (FSPSX) Fidelity International Index Fund
10% in FDLXX
Having never been in a position to invest this amount of money I feel almost frozen in trying to make a decision. Thank you in advance for any advice!
