Personal Investments • Re: Still worth it to buy iBonds yearly?

5.2% composite rate on I bonds is still the best yield currently. Quite competitive with T bills rates that aren't inflation indexed, and quite a bit ahead when compared with the yields of long term treasuries (4.6%). Guaranteed to never ever lose value thanks to the 1.3% fixed rate component. What is not to like??

I am going ahead with purchasing $20k (self + spouse) per year. Actually will be using the gift box technique to lock in the 1.3% fixed yield for at least 2024 and 2025.

PS: I am 54 years old, so perhaps you and I are of the same cohort, 10 to 15 years away from retirement
