For my own purposes, I use the Morningstar Stock Style box and convert it to a simple LG, LV, SG, and SC split. For VTI that comes to about:

• 58% Large Growth

• 30% Large Value

• 4.5% Small Growth

• 7.5% Small Value

For my purposes it is a reasonable approximation. It in essence splits the mid-cap between large and small. Definitely a very rough ballpark.
