All my 2024 QCDs (all were over $1K) were processed by Vanguard on February 6th and on April 14th I received a letter from Vanguard via USPS that a certain $5K check had not cleared the bank. Contacted the charity and they said it was never received. Immediately called Vanguard and they stopped payment on the check and reissued another check that arrived today. I will send the replacement check on today having contacted the charity financial representative by phone letting them know it is coming.
As to proper receipt acknowledgement by the charities, I have received proper receipts from each organization except for one who says they send proper receipts out once a year in early January of the following year. They sent a thank you letter upon receipt of the check and would however send a formal receipt now if I needed it now. Also I had to provide guidance to one very small animal rescue organization as to proper acknowledgement of financial gifts. They were very appreciative and said they would incorporate that guidance into their acknowledgement letters.
