I personally question the common assumption that tuition rates will rise at the rates that they have been historically. Enrollment rates have been declining 1.5% a year for almost a decade now. Colleges will have to become more competitive to survive and many people foresee closures for some of the smaller private schools. Plus, keep in mind that actual college costs are less than the advertised amounts due to grants and scholarships; look at this article, for example: https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions ... ting-tool/
My 4 year old has 100k and I don't plan on making any further contributions to her 529 and will stop at that amount for my youngest child as well.
Although I applaud OP for the care they show to their kids by thinking and saving so much for their future, having 275k in each of the 529s is overkill. I hope that OP has stopped funding those accounts.
