Usually I ask age and annual expenses but since you said you have kids in college and you are cash flowing college costs, you are probably living below your means so your current portfolio will be more than enough to sustain your lifestyle for the reminder of your life.Dear BH,
I’m struggling with wanting to buy a used $80k SUV.
I like the car and owned two of them previously. I sold my last one because I was given a special assignment to the DEA, and had a department vehicle for personal use.
My wife and I have no debt and currently paying cash for my kids college tuition. One has one more year left and the other has two years left. We pay cash when tuition is due.
We have 4.3 M at Vanguard between Roth IRAs Taxable 403b and 457. All in index funds and some cash in a money market.
We earn about $245,000 per year combined.
I know I can afford it. But I’m struggling to spend the money this time around because I spent approximately $60k on the last two and this one will cost about $20k more.
Just wondering if any other BH have found themselves in this situation where you could afford it but had a difficult time pulling the trigger. Any thoughts ? Thank you.
Vinny.
Buy it.
If you don't, someone inheriting your wealth will:)
