Personal Investments • Re: Can I retire early?

Thanks Everyone. To answer a few of the questions:

SS: If I leave now, I will be eligible for $3600/mo @ 65 and my wife will be eligible for 1800/mo at 65.

RE: % of equities - That is exactly why I have not invested the cash in the HYS yet. I am a bit more concerned about wealth preservation right now than growing that money exponentially. I'll take 5% over 10% growth on that money any day. Yes, I am getting killed in taxes right now, so that is a consideration and why I will likely do something with it sooner rather than later. I just didn't want to make any sudden moves. Not sure putting that all in CA Muni's makes sense though.

I've kept the investments in the 401k's etc pretty aggressive because I can't access them for another 15 years or so anyways. It's the time between then and now that I am most concerned about. Once I get to a normal retirement age, I think we will be fine.
