We did charter schools for a while because we wanted language immersion. Still public (and free), but we had to drive 15-20 minutes to drop them off and pick them up.This is very insightful, coming from a California resident. But our school zone (we are renting) ratings are 4 / 5 / 7 for elementary / middle / high schools. So, we may have to send our kid to private school for elementary / middle schools, unless we move or buy a home in a good school zone.
That was true everywhere in the country for the first 20+ years these plans existed until 2017 added K-12 tuition as a sop to the religious crowd.Wow, so 529 in California cannot be used until age 18 at all, unless I'm missing something.
