Personal Investments • Re: Should I consolidate our IRA accounts

I have used a Fee-for-service advisor twice for help with retirement transitions for my wife, then I. It was well worth the money. However, it was a one-time fee each time, not an ongoing relationship.

I would not be comfortable paying a significant yearly fee to do the stuff that is easy and simple. Creating a plan can be a challenge and a little hand-holding can be a very good thing. However, I think the best plans are simple. Simple plans don't need an advisor to follow.

I would consolidate the IRAs to make it simple. Notice that I highly value simplicity. I consolidated and moved all of our accounts to Schwab. I don't understand why FACET needs to have your accounts in APEX. If all they are doing is advising, it doesn't matter where the accounts are held. If they are actually initiating trades for you to rebalance, then I think you are paying for services that you may not need.
